6/1/12 - Williamston house fire, 1060 Burkley Rd

At approximately 11:15 AM on Friday, June 1, 2012, NIESA Fire Williamston & Leroy Twp stations were dispatched to a possible house fire at the intersection of Burkley & Waldo Rds. The Dansville Fire Chief also responded to this report and was first to arrive, reporting a working house fire. Mutual aid was immediately requested for a full response from Dansville and a tanker from Mason. As fire rigs began arriving on scene, the fire started to break through the roof and command advised this would be an exterior attack. As the incident progressed, additional tankers were requested from the Onondaga, Delhi Township and Leslie fire departments. The Red Cross was also requested to respond to assist the elderly occupant of the home. Firefighters were on the scene for approximately 4 hours.
