2/14/12 - Leslie basement fire, 409 Pennsylvania
The Leslie Fire Department responded to a basement fire at 7:35 AM on Tuesday, February 14, 2012. The Leslie fire chief was on scene within 2 minutes reporting smoke & fire visible in the basement of a ranch style home at 409 Pennsylvania St. Automatic aid was dispatched from the Onondaga Fire Department and after confirming a working fire, additional aid for manpower was also requested from the Mason and Dansville Fire Departments. The Delhi Twp fire chief reported that he was on the road nearby and could respond with a DSPA canister to knock down the fire. On his arrival the canister was quickly deployed which appeared to make a significant change in the intensity of the fire. Shortly afterward crews entered the home and advanced 2 preconnect lines into the basement to finish extinguishment and perform overhaul. Firefighters were on the scene for approximately 2 hours, there were no injuries.
