2/12/12 - Dansville house fire, 2395 E. Dexter Tr.
A little after 1 PM on Sunday, February 12, 2012, the Dansville Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a refrigerator fire with a house filling with smoke at 2395 E. Dexter Tr. While responding, mutual aid was requested from the Stockbridge (SAESA) Fire Department to also respond, and when the plume of black smoke in the air became visible to responding units, additional mutual aid was requested for the Mason & Leslie fire departments for tankers and manpower. When personnel arrived, they found a 1 story ranch of light weight construction with an attached garage fully involved. The fire had already extended into the home and was heavily working the attic. An exterior attack was initiated using handlines from Dansville 331 on the "A" side and 332 on a side street to attack from the "B" side. Each used a porta-tank and tankers shuttled water to both tanks as needed. Once it was deemed safe to enter, crews went inside to perform salvage and overhaul operations.
