5/13/11 - Leslie mock crash, Leslie High School
The Leslie Fire Department conducted a simulated car crash for the students at the Leslie High School on Friday, May 13, 2011. The simulation is designed to educate and impress upon the students the serious impacts that drinking and driving could have on their lives and their friend's lives. It is conducted close to prom so that these lessons will still be fresh in their minds during prom festivities. This "accident" involved 2 vehicles, both of which required extrication. There were 8 patients, all students, including 2 that were "fatally" injured. One driver was intoxicated and arrested immediately and one of the patients was loaded into a helicopter.
