5/13/11 - Eaton Rapids mock crash, Eaton Rapids High School
On Friday, May 13, 2011, several Eaton Rapids area emergency service organizations gathered at the Eaton Rapids High School to conduct a simulation of a serious car crash for the high school students. The purpose of this demonstration is to impress upon the kids the serious consequences of drinking and driving and the life changing results that can occur. This is done close to prom to keep this lesson fresh in their minds during prom night festivities. The accident involved 3 vehicles - all of which required extrications, 7 patients - 2 of which were "fatally injured" and 1 that got to ride in a helicopter, and 1 drunk driver that gets arrested. The Eaton Rapids Police Department, Eaton Rapids Fire Department, Eaton Rapids Township Fire Department, Hamlin Township Fire Department, Eaton Rapids Area EMS and Lifenet helicopter participated in the drill.
