10/30/11 - Flint commercial building fire, Sherman & Harvard
The Flint Fire Department was dispatched to a commercial building fire just after 5 PM on Devil's Night, Sunday, October 30, 2011. First due Engine 61 reported smoke visible from a distance. On arrival they found a vacant 1 story cement block corner party store heavily involved in fire, advising this would be an exterior attack. Engine 61, Truck 35 and Squad 2 took up defensive positions to protect exposures allowing the structure to burn, Truck 15 and Squad 1 were released from the scene. Once the structure had mostly collapsed, fire crews worked to control hotspots and make hazards safe before leaving the scene.
