9/10/10 - Lansing tech rescue training, 112 E. Main
On Friday, September 10, 2010, The Metro Lansing Technical Rescue Team performed a training exercise at the site of the former Deluxe Inn, 112 E. Main St, in Lansing. A portion of one of the buildings was damaged, collapsing the floor of one room into the room below. Team members from the Delta Twp, East Lansing and Lansing fire departments were given the task of rescuing a "victim" who was entraped in the collapsed floor of a room on the 2nd floor. The graffiti on the walls is part of an art exhibit, sponsored by the City of Lansing, which invited area artists to spend a weekend painting the building for display during the summer. The buildings were scheduled for demolition which began on September 13th.
