12/20/10 - NIESA/Williamston house fire, 206 E. Riverside
In the early morning hours of Monday, December 20, 2010, both the Northeast Ingham Emergency Service Authority (NIESA) Williamston and Leroy Twp stations were dispatched to a house fire at 206 E. Riverside Dr in Williamston. A Williamston Fire Department command officer who lives in the neighborhood advised arrival shortly after the 2:35 AM dispatch and reported heavy smoke from the 2nd floor of a two story home. Firefighters forced entry on arrival and soon discovered partial floor collapse and interior structural compromise. Fire was discovered in the basement and both the 1st & 2nd floors of the home, access to most of it had to be gained from the outside for safety. Additional mutual aid was requested for manpower from the Dansville and Fowlerville fire departments as well as the Laingsburg-Sciota-Woodhull (LSW) Fire Department. It took several hours to completely extinquish the fire due to difficult access for overhauling operations caused by the construction of the home.
