10/10/10 - Mason attic fire, 142 Okemos St
At 11:45 PM on Sunday, October 10, 2010, the Mason Fire Department responded to a possible structure fire at 142 Okemos St. First arriving command units found a two story multi unit home with light, lazy smoke showing from the roof. As fire crews arrived, entry was gained into the interior to access the attic. Personnel simultaneously laddered the exterior for access to the fire. The construction of the roof, having a small pitch leading to a flat top, made positioning a roof ladder risky. Tower 808 was positioned and raised in a parking lot next to the home. Interior crews found and extinguished a small fire in the attic and the incident was handled with minimal damage. The fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical problem.
