6/30/11 - Closing ceremony for Lansing Fire Station 7
On July 1, 2011, the Lansing Fire Department disbanded 2 engine companies, 2 truck companies, 1 battalion chief, 1 medic unit and closed 2 stations. Station 7, "the cottage", was one of those that closed with Engine 47 disbanded. Station 7, a neighborhood fire station located at Jenison & Saginaw, first opened to serve the westside of Lansing in October, 1925. On the evening of June 30, many neighbors joined retired and current fire personnel to observe the final flag lowering to honor the years of service provided by this station.
