05/1979 - Ingham Co Sheriff extrication training (part 1) : In 1979, only a couple of departments within Ingham County were equipped with "the jaws" hydraulic extrication tools. The Ingham County Sheriff's Department Heavy Rescue unit was one of them. Heavy Rescue conducted extrication classes for college EMS and law enforcement training curriculums. This class took two evenings, these photos are of the first evening.

5/20/79 - Meridian Twp injury accident, Grand River & Northview : At lease three patients were transported with injuries when two cars were involved in a side-swipe collision on Grand River Ave at Northview Dr on Sunday, May 20, 1979. Meridian Fire Department Ambulance 1 and Ambulance 2 both responded along with a paramedic unit from the Ingham County Sheriff's Department.

4/28/79 - Meridian Twp injury accident, Grand River west of Marsh Rd : On Saturday, April 28, 1979, Meridian Twp Fire Department Ambulance 2 responded to a car accident with injuries on Grand River in front of the Meridian Mall. While responding to this call, an Ingham County Sheriff paramedic unit was involved in a non-injury crash at the intersection of Okemos & Mount Hope.

09/1978 - Meridian Twp extrication, Grand River & Campus Hill : In September, 1978, the Meridian Township Fire Department responded to a serious motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Grand River Ave & Campus Hill Dr. A car pulling out of Campus Hill Dr sideswiped a westbound sedan which lost control, skidding into the eastbound lanes resulting in a hard impact broadside collision. Several patients had serious injuries and two patients required extrication. At that time, Meridian Fire did not have modern extrication equipment, extrication for this area was handled by Ingham Co Sheriff Heavy Rescue. Heavy Rescue arrived and quickly extricated the passenger from the Chevette, the driver was also trapped but was killed on impact. Two patients were transported by Meridian Township Ambulance. When police were ready, the driver was extricated and removed from the scene by Lansing Mercy Ambulance.

08/1978 - Meridian Twp injury accidents : Two minor injury accidents that occured in August, 1978, in Meridian Township. The first was a car vs bicycle accident on Hamilton at Grand River Ave. The second was a car vs bus at M-78 and Park Lake Rd. Laingsburg Ambulance just happened upon the second accident prior to Meridian Ambulance arriving on scene.

4/3/1978 - Meridian Twp training exercise, Edgewood Elementary School : Meridian Twp firefighters training on their new Mack fire engine. One of two trucks purchased, this one had large hose reels on the back for conveniently laying out large diameter supply hose. These hose reels were later removed from the truck and replaced with a Tele-Squrt.
