The Delhi Township Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire on Willoughby Rd at US-127 at 7:40 AM on Wednesday, April 3, 2013. Command officers responding observed a large plume of smoke visible from a distance and had already requested mutual aid before the arrived. Assistance was requested for an engine, tanker and manpower from the Mason Fire Department as well as tankers from the Dansville & Onondaga fire departments. First arriving command reported a fully involved 2 story house and a defensive attack strategy. Additional assistance was later requested for an engine company from the Lansing Fire Department as well as a for LFD fire investigators to respond. One occupant was in the home at the time of the fire and was forced to escape by jumping out a 2nd floor window prior to fire department arrival, that civilian was later transported by Lansing-Mason Ambulance for non-life threatening conditions. Due to difficult access from structural compromise, it took several hours to bring the fire under control and complete overhaul.
